I have been sorely remiss on posting over the past many months, but back at it. To catch up, last year was an over the top bumper crop year. We had great soil nutrition for starting the season, based a number of trailer loads of good compost and other soil amendments. And the rain seemed to come in the right amounts and at the right time.
The 2024 season also brought us 20 students from the local Bayview high school, joining the regular 6 to 8 cooperative gardeners. Everyone appreciated their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. Even their teachers pitched in to help.
In addition to gardening, we managed to rebuild some infrastructure, such as our pump house. Repairs to some of the greenhouses were accomplished as well.
And of course, there were all the efforts to keep the 4-legged and 6-legged pests at bay. Here’s a deer in broad daylight which somehow got through the electric fence!
